The Hays County Local Health Department reports three new COVID-19-related fatalities on March 3, a Driftwood man in his 60s, a Kyle man in his 50s and a San Marcos man in his 80s. There have been a total of 224 fatalities in the county.
The county also reports 36 new lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 0 recoveries, bringing the total number of cases in the county to 16,435, total active cases to 592 and recoveries to 15,619. The county reports the total active cases in the past 21 days is 794.
San Marcos, Kyle and Buda have 160, 179 and 129 active cases, respectively.
According to Epidemiologist Eric Schneider, the total number of received negative tests in the county is now 125,900. The total number of hospitalizations is 753 and total current hospitalizations is 16 after one person was hospitalized and five were discharged.
