Nijal Pearson scored a game-high 15 points and six rebounds as the Texas State Bobcats secured the road victory over the Troy Trojans 58-44.
The Bobcats have now won six out of their last seven games to remain a game ahead of both Georgia Southern and Georgia State.
Texas State would have a slow start to the game as they trailed Troy 16-10 with 10:52 left in the game. However, the Bobcats responded with a 10-0 run to retake the lead. The ‘Cats outscored the Trojans 20-5 end the first half leading 30-21.
The second half saw the Bobcats surge as they failed to surrender the lead all the up till the final buzzer. Texas State would take their largest lead of the game as the ‘Cats led 52-35 with 7:44 left in the second half. Though the Trojans outscored Texas State 9-6 during the rest of the game, it wouldn’t be enough to complete the comeback.
Along with Pearson’s 15 points, Mason Harrell contributed with a season-high 14 points along with Eric Terry’s 9 points.
Texas State finishes up their Alabama road trip this Saturday against the South Alabama Jaguars before the season finale at Arlington against UTA.
