“Federal authorities are involved and the incidents remain under investigation,” Flores said.

The LBJ Student Center has experienced four threats since Oct. 26– three known to be bomb threats– according to University Spokesperson Matt Flores. The University Police Department is leading the investigation of threats and is asking for federal assistance in the investigation.
Wednesday morning marked the third evacuation of LBJ. Flores said the initial transmission to today’s threat came in at about 9:45 a.m. and the first alert went out at 10:44 a.m. The hour delay is due to UPD obtaining the information and being able to relay it to the right people.
The threats made have been coming from a “spoof” number, or a phone number generated by a third-party app, according to Patrick Cochran, assistant director of UPD. The threats have all came from 512-806-7565.
“They’re coming in from the same number, but it’s not trackable,” Cochran said. “We know the threats are linked.”
Cochran said the decision to evacuate LBJ Student Center is based off different response protocols, and UPD must determine if the threat is credible enough for evacuation.
“If there happens to be an active shooter, then we won’t have all LBJ walk outside into the danger,” Cochran said.
Evacuations will continue to happen as UPD and the university will take every threat seriously, Flores said.
