The Texas State women’s golf team hosted the Texas State Invitational at Landa Park Golf Club on Monday and Tuesday in New Braunfels
The Bobcats took home 1st place out of 15 teams at the event, posting an 18-under 846 (294-276-276) scorecard, also boasting 5 Bobcats in the top 10 out of an 84-player field. Texas State blew the competition out of the water, finishing with a 29-stroke victory over second-place Tarleton State.
Leading the lineup with the team low was senior Briana LeMarie with a final score of 7-under 209 (75-65-69). After shooting 3 over the first round, she went into the second round firing on all cylinders to shoot a bogey-free round of 65 to go 7-under to bring her total to 4-under going into the final round.
In the final round, she shot 3-under to bring her overall total across three days to a 7-under and runner-up finish individually. Lemarie finished with an eagle and 12 birdies.
Senior Yvonne Chamness came in at 6-under 210 (73-69-68). Chamness finished third overall; this performance now takes her total top-five finishes to three in her final season as a Bobcat, as well as leading the team in birdies with 15 total.
With a 3-under 213 (74-72-67), sophomore Fia Lindblom dropped 11 birdies with six coming in her final round of 5-under 67. Linblom finished the tournament fifth overall.
Next up was freshman duo Grace Quintanilla 214 (72-70-72) and Mana Hersperger 214 (73-72-69), tying for sixth both at 2-under. Both registered 12 birdies in their first career top 10 finishes. Hersperger was competing as an individual at the tournament.
Finally, rounding out the end of the lineup was sophomore Ella Salama, who finished at 12-over and tied 31st.
The Bobcats will return to play Feb. 16-17, traveling to the Woodlands for the Texas Golf Throwdown hosted by Sam Houston at The Woodlands Country Club.
