The Bobcats started the spring season traveling to Semmes, Ala. to compete in the Hal Williams Collegiate hosted by South Alabama at Magnolia Grove.
The dynamic duo of senior Sakke Siltala (64-71-72–207) and senior Ben Loveard (68-67-72—207) led the Bobcats as they both tied for 14th out of 78 players in the field. Siltala opened with a bogey-free 6-under 64 to be the team’s low.
Loveard went on to shoot 5-under in the first two rounds of the tournament himself before both Loveard and Sitalila shot two over in the last round.
Up next was junior Bryce Womack (73-72-69), who finished the tournament at 4-over 214 after shooting 1-under in the final round to finish tied 44th alongside sophomore Jaxon Donaldson (70-70-74) at 4-over 214.
Rounding out the lineup was junior Jose Manuel Berenguel Casas (71-75-72), who shot 8-over 218 for the tournament for 65th place.
No. 13 Illinois won the tournament at 31-under, while Southern Miss finished second at 16-under and UAB third at 14-under. The Bobcats finished the tournament 2-under to claim eighth place.
The Bobcats’ next tournament will be February 23-25 at the Lake Las Vegas Intercollegiate in Henderson, Nevada.
