Faculty Senate said faculty concerns regarding parking and salaries as well as those of the university’s custodial staff during their Sept. 26 meeting.
While discussing faculty salaries, Faculty Senate Chair Alex White mentioned two faculty members’ concerns, which were over pay raises in relation to enrollment and the difference between administrator and faculty raises.
Faculty Senate also voiced concerns over a lack of parking near the Education and Roy F. Mitte buildings. as well as the price of parking in the Edward Gary Parking Garage. White spoke with Parking Services on these concerns and said there may be an update to come in a Faculty Senate Bulletin.
During the meeting, custodial staff expressed concerns about the university’s shift to a third-party provider for custodial services. White contacted Vice President for Finance and Support Services Eric Algoe about the issue, and Algoe said the transition stems from the additional manpower required to service the new buildings. Faculty Senate will revisit the issue after Staff Council has discussed it further.
To end the meeting, Faculty Senate discussed updates on the new Council of Inclusive Excellence. Inclusive Excellence will be the theme of the next Full Senate meeting.
