Hays County reports one new COVID-19 fatality

The Hays County Health Department reports one new COVID-19 fatality Oct. 29, a Buda man in his 90s. The total number of fatalities in the county is 87.

The county also reports 16 new lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 66 recoveries Oct. 29, bringing the total number of cases in the county to 6,119 and recoveries to 5,685. The county reports the total active cases in the last 21 days is 390.

The county recently changed active case counts in the county after an internal review showed inaccurate active case counts in San Marcos and Kyle. As of Oct. 29, San Marcos and Kyle have 90 and 117 active cases, respectively. Additionally, Buda has 88 active cases.

According to Epidemiologist Eric Schneider, the total number of received negative tests in the county is now 35,419. The total number of hospitalizations is 384 and total current hospitalizations is eight after one new patient was admitted and three patients were discharged.
