Residents, students and furry friends in San Marcos showed up to polling locations to cast their votes on Election Day.
Voter turnout exceeded 2016 numbers during the early voting period, with 109,386 ballots cast in Hays County.
While the Performing Arts Center on Texas State’s campus brought a steady flow of voters in, students said wait times did not exceed close to an hour. Those at the Hays County Government Center said the location had virtually no wait time and no lines all day long.
In the evening, candidates held watch parties on and around the Square downtown, awaiting results of the election. Complete but unofficial results for Hays County were submitted around 10 p.m.
