Hays County reports 1 new COVID-19 fatality, 72 new cases

The Hays County Local Health Department reports one new COVID-19-related fatality Oct. 7, a Kyle woman in her 80s.  

The county also reported 72 new lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 70 recoveries, bringing the total number of cases in the county to 28,929, total active cases to 879 and recoveries to 27,674. The county reports the total active cases in the past 21 days is 1,477.

San Marcos, Kyle and Buda have 200, 277 and 170 active cases, respectively.

According to Epidemiologist Eric Schneider, the total number of received negative tests in the county is now 260,605. The total number of hospitalizations is 1,319 and total current hospitalizations is 40 after three people were hospitalized and three were discharged.
The county reports 33 unvaccinated people and seven fully vaccinated people are hospitalized. 25 unvaccinated patients and three fully vaccinated patients are in the ICU.
