The Hays County Local Health Department reports two new COVID-19-related fatalities Jan. 26, a Dripping Springs woman in her 70s and a Creedmoor man in his 40s. There have been a total of 177 fatalities in the county.
The county also reported 158 new lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 563 recoveries, bringing the total number of cases in the county to 14,640, total active cases to 2,600 and recoveries to 11,863. The county reports the total active cases in the past 21 days is 3,799.
San Marcos, Kyle and Buda have 776, 922 and 482 active cases, respectively.
According to Epidemiologist Eric Schneider, the total number of received negative tests in the county is now 101,441. The total number of hospitalizations is 636 and total current hospitalizations is 37 after five people were hospitalized and eight were discharged.
