San Marcos Fire Department responded to an injured worker at 6:50 a.m. at the construction site for the new STEM classrooms located at the block on 600 Academy Street.
According to Public Safety Communications Specialist Russell Wilde, a male worker was hit by a “platform” on his legs and back on the 5th floor.
The Fire Department and crew accessed the patient, conducted on-site assessment and provided assessment, packing and utilized special rescue equipment to safely lower the patient from the site, Wilde wrote in an email to The Star.
Shortly after 8 a.m. the worker was transported by Emergency Medical Services (EMS) to Ascension Seton Hays for treatment.
No other injuries were reported.
