The Texas State Bobcats (5-2) continue to find their groove after two back-to-back losses at the beginning of the spring season as they earned their fifth consecutive win Sunday against Abilene Christian (4-6) by a score of 4-3 at the Judi and Cecil Eager Tennis Pavillion in Abilene, Texas.
Doubles
Senior Olivia Collins and freshman Ireland Simme were victorious on court one, defeating the Wildcats’ Alice Klinteby and Masha Vrsalovic 6-3.
The sophomore duo Tadiwa Mauchi and Chantajah Mills defeated Abilene Christian’s Jess Board and Elsa Luthar with a score of 6-3 as well on court three.
Court two saw Texas State sophomore Emily Niers and freshman Anastasia Radovanovic down 3-4 before being cut short.
Singles
Singles play against the Wildcats was evenly matched, as the day ended with an even 3-3 split for both teams.
Niers fell to Abilene Christian’s Masha Vraslovic 6-1 in the first set, and 6-4 in the second set.
Mauchi struggled on court two and was defeated in set one 6-3, and 6-2 in the second.
Simme helped the Bobcats claw their way to another point in the win column on court three by winning both of her sets 6-4 and 6-2.
The Bobcats struggled to gain any traction on court four with Collins losing both sets 6-0.
Courts five saw Radovanovic win in a tiebreak in set one 7-6, and 6-3 in set two. A decisive win on court six gained the Bobcats their third singles win of the day with Mills winning both sets 6-2.
The Bobcats return home looking to win six in a row, at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 20, to face off against Incarnate Word at Bobcat Tennis Complex.
