Hays County reports four new COVID-19 fatalities

The Hays County Local Health Department reports four new COVID-19-related fatalities Jan. 23-25, a Dripping Springs woman in her 80s, a Kyle man in his 70s, a San Marcos man in his 60s and a San Marcos woman in her 50s. There have been a total of 175 fatalities in the county.

The county also reported 567 new lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 253 recoveries, bringing the total number of cases in the county to 14,482, total active cases to 3,007 and recoveries to 11,300. The county reports the total active cases in the past 21 days is 3,964.

San Marcos, Kyle and Buda have 943, 1,006 and 563 active cases, respectively.

According to Epidemiologist Eric Schneider, the total number of received negative tests in the county is now 100,540. The total number of hospitalizations is 631 and total current hospitalizations is 40 after 14 people were hospitalized and 17 were discharged.
