Hays County reports 2 new COVID-19 fatalities, 70 new cases

The Hays County Local Health Department reports two new COVID-19-related fatalities Sept. 28, a Kyle woman in her 60s and a Wimberley man in his 60s. 

The county also reported 70 new lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 269 recoveries, bringing the total number of cases in the county to 28,435, total active cases to 1,274 and recoveries to 26,795. The county reports the total active cases in the past 21 days is 2,523.

San Marcos, Kyle and Buda have 373, 426 and 192 active cases, respectively.

According to Epidemiologist Eric Schneider, the total number of received negative tests in the county is now 253,523. The total number of hospitalizations is 1,292 and total current hospitalizations is 40 after one person was hospitalized and four were discharged.
The county reports 35 unvaccinated people and five fully vaccinated people are hospitalized. 30 unvaccinated patients and two fully vaccinated patients are in the ICU.
