Texas State falls short in the last home game of the season 33-30

The Texas State football team lost their final home game of the season from Sun Belt Conference team Georgia State 33-30 at Bobcat Stadium Nov 11.
After the Veterans’ Day battle, the Bobcats dropped to 2-8 on the season and 1-5 in SBC play.
The Bobcats were the first to get on the board with a 12-yard pass from graduate quarterback Damian Williams to sophomore running-back Anthony Taylor.  Freshman kicker Foster Hilborn’s extra point was good and put the Bobcats up 7-0.
GSU answered with a 48-yard field goal and a 34-yard touchdown pass. The Panthers ended the first quarter up 10-7.
A 9-yard pass to senior tight-end Chris French from Williams and a field goal placed the Bobcats back in the lead 14-7 in the second quarter. A 48-yard field goal from GSU was the final scoring drive of the half, leaving Texas State ahead 14-13.
Coming from the half, the Bobcats extended their lead by three with a Hilborn field goal for 33-yards. Texas State led 17-13.
GSU mustered a field goal and touchdown before ending the third quarter on top 23-17.
Texas State scored first in the fourth with a 34-yard touchdown pass from Williams to senior wide-reciever Elijah King. Hilborn’s extra point was no good, and left the game tied 23-23.
Texas State took a 30-26 lead with a one-yard touchdown by freshman running-back Anthony Smith and a good field goal.
A final touchdown by GSU put the Panthers on top, leaving the Bobcats behind 33-30.
Along with celebrating the Veterans who have fought and are still fighting for this country, the seniors on the team were honored as well for their time spent at Bobcat Stadium.
Seniors include Williams, French, King, linebacker Gabe Loyd, tight-end Gabe Schrade, safety Quinn Tiggs, safety Stephan Johnson, linebacker Louis Rubin and safety Dila Rosemond.
The Bobcats will continue their season against Arkansas State Nov. 18 in Jonesboro, Arkansas. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m.
