Former Texas State wide receiver Joey Hobert is returning as an assistant coach with the Bobcats, announced on X this past week.
Despite just two seasons in maroon and gold, Hobert finished his collegiate career in San Marcos ranking third in receptions (146) and fifth in receiving touchdowns (16) in program history.
Hobert’s return to the program that he helped to elevate brings familiarity to the Bobcat system that looks to build on the return of several key offensive pieces.
The Bobcats will look to continue improving as spring practices will continue through the end of April. Hobert will make his official coaching debut when the Bobcats take on the Texas Longhorns in week one of the 2026 season.
