Texas State track and field put forth a strong performance in their first appearance of the season at home in the Charles Austin Classic, featuring numerous victories across multiple events.
Field Events
Isaiah Kayembe recorded a personal-best in the long jump with a mark of 7.39 meters. Kayembe secured the title at the meet and improved to second in the Sun Belt Conference.
Sophomore Damacio Hooks won gold in the triple jump with a mark of 14.86 meters.

Caden Ohara placed first in the men’s pole vault with a clearance of 5.20 meters, a personal best for the freshman.
Chinenye Uzoh recorded a clearance of 1.70 meters in the women’s high jump event to win gold while Easton Hammond took first in the men’s high jump with a clearance of 2.03 meters.
The Bobcats shined in several throwing events. Manfred Mannamaa took home gold in the men’s hammer throw with a mark of 63.68 meters, now holding first place in the SBC.
The top two spots in the women’s javelin event were owned by the Bobcats as Charlize Goody secured gold with a mark of 48.41 meters, which also moved her to first place in the Sun Belt while McKenah Sears recorded a second-place finish with a mark of 43.99 meters.
Both now sit in the top two spots in the SBC rankings, respectively.
Senior Cassandra Rendon made a statement and won gold in the discus event with a mark of 50.61 meters, who now leads the conference in the event.
On the men’s side, sophomore Daniel Strooh captured gold for a second straight meet with a mark of 58.37 meters. Adam Carter finished second with a new personal best mark of 54.18 meters.
Sophia Harberer took home first place in the shot put event with a personal best mark of 15.77 meters. Hannah Kemele followed behind Harberer with a second-place finish after recording a mark of 15.10 meters.
Track Events
Ja’Shaun Lloyd put forth another dominant performance, this time winning gold in both the 110-meter hurdles and 200-meter events. He posted a time of 13.81 in the hurdles and a personal best time of 21.03 in the 200-meters.
Paige Archer put together a strong showing winning two gold medals, one in the 100-meters and another in the 200-meter event, who ran a time of 11.76 in the 100-meters and a time of 23.64 in the 200-meters.
On the men’s side of the 100-meter event, Ty’Shaun Lloyd captured gold with a time of 10.72.
The men’s 4×100 team consisting of Arveyon Davis, Reginald Bonner, Drew Donley and Ja’Shaun Lloyd took first with a blistering time of 40.12.

The 4×400 relays were also owned by the Bobcats, as the men’s squad of Mihajlo Katanic, Ethan Moffett, Aiden Sheffield and Donley recorded a time worthy of gold with a 3:14.34, while the women’s team of Victoria Amiadamen, Siena Farrell, Kila Rodas and Kathryn Evans took gold with a time of 3:26.72.
Rodas also won the women’s 800 meters with a time of 2:12.60 while Evans finished as the runner-up with a personal best time of 2:12.88.
For the women, Sofia Pena recorded a personal record time of 11:23.56 to win gold in the 3000-meter steeplechase. For the men, Elias Palmer claimed gold with a personal best time of 9:06.52.
Alexia Macias brought home gold in the women’s 1500 meter with a time of 4:27.09.
Texas State track and field will pick back up next week as they are set to compete in both the Texas Relays from April 1-4 and host the Bobcat Invitational on April 2-4.
