The Texas State Bobcats Track and Field team is off to the races after a great start to its indoor season at the Ted Nelson Invitational in College Station, Texas.
For the field events, sophomore thrower Manfred Mannamaa recorded a mark of 19.04 meters to place fifth in the weight throw.
Senior thrower Melanie Duron took first place in her first indoor shot put event of the year with a throw of 16.58 meters, which now ranks fifth all-time in program history in the event.
In the men’s shot put, junior thrower Henry Buckles placed second with a mark of 17.48 meters. Buckles, who was the 2025 Sun Belt shot put indoor champion, will look to build on his strong start.
The Bobcats found plenty of success in the jumping events. Freshman Tshephang Dankuru recorded a mark of 2.14 meters in the men’s high jump, good for first place in the event.
Chris Preddie found success in the men’s long jump with a leap of 7.47 meters and placed second in the event.
In the triple jump event, Kennedy Jacquet finished fourth with a new personal-best mark of 11.70 meters.
On the track, Jack Deelman took fourth place in the 3,000 meters with a time of 8:21.60. The strong time puts him third all-time in program history in the event.
On the women’s side of the event, Abigail Parra placed third with a time of 9:29.24. This is both a new Texas State school record and personal best.
Ja’Shaun Lloyd shined in two events, the 60-meter hurdles and 200-meter sprint. Lloyd placed third in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 7.82 and recorded a finish within the top 10 in the 200 meters with a time of 21.71.
Alexia Tiscareno Macias ran a personal best time of 4:52.94 in the mile, which netted her fourth place in the event and sixth in program history.
The next meet on the schedule for Texas State Track and Field will see them return to College Station, also hosted by Texas A&M, as they will partake in the Charlie Thomas Invitational from Feb. 6-7.
