Faculty Senate held its biannual, full-senate meeting Feb. 14, where senators updated liaisons on recently discussed issues.
The senate confirmed they are replacing TRACS. Providers for the new learning management system will be publicly demonstrating their systems March 5, 7 and 9.
A pilot process will follow the change to test out the new system, then a transfer process before completing the switch within the next couple of years.
Senators and liaisons also discussed issues regarding the Institutional Review Board’s process to approve human subject research. Complaints have emerged about the amount of time the board takes to review applications, which is hindering the research students and faculty desire to partake in the studies. The process regularly exceeds the seven-day time frame, often taking up weeks or months for a response.
Other items discussed at the meeting included: completing the committee preference survey, the candidates for the chief diversity officer position and improving policies for incoming staff on severe inclement weather situations.
