Uptown Cheapskate is a popular thrift store, located at 1504 Aquarena Springs Dr, is known for selling a wide variety of designer brands at affordable prices, allowing for the average college student to buy the latest trends without breaking the bank.
 
They also buy clothing from the community they serve, giving people an opportunity to  earn some extra cash, and the store has a rotating inventory available. Having an abundance in inventory allows for them to cater to the style of those living in San Marcos, ensuring there will always be items that most people will enjoy.
 
Following the shelter-in-place and stay-at-home orders,  Uptown Cheapskate has closed their San Marcos, Austin, and College Station locations. Although their stores are closed for the time being, customers can still buy clothes from them online through their account on depop, an online marketplace where people from all over the world can sell clothing and accessories.
