Hays County reports one new COVID-19 fatality, 67 new cases

The Hays County Local Health Department reports one new COVID-19-related fatality March 18, a San Marcos woman in her 70s. There have been a total of 234 fatalities in the county.

The county also reported 67 new lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 35 recoveries, bringing the total number of cases in the county to 16,856, total active cases to 423 and recoveries to 16,199. The county reports the total active cases in the past 21 days is 678.

San Marcos, Kyle and Buda have 154, 104 and 80 active cases, respectively.

According to Epidemiologist Eric Schneider, the total number of received negative tests in the county is now 137,829. The total number of hospitalizations is 770 and total current hospitalizations is seven after zero people were hospitalized and one was discharged.
