Johnny Flores has been elected to move forward to the November elections representing the Democratic Party for County Commissioner, Precinct 2, against republican candidate Abby Gibson.
Flores, who is currently a Hays CISD school board vice president, received 72.60% of the votes (5,380 votes) while Bryan Escobar, who is currently a tax consultant, received 27.40% of the votes (2,030 votes)
Flores wrote in an email to The Star that he is grateful for the opportunity to represent the democratic party in November.
“I believe in the promise of Hays County, a place where families can thrive, and our community can grow based on our values,” Flores wrote
Heading into general elections, Flores wrote that he will stay focused on improving roads, managing responsible growth and keeping the county affordable for working families.
“I look forward to a strong race and continuing the conversation with our community,” Flores wrote.
Flores and Gibson will face each other on Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2026.
