The Texas State Bobcats (22-15, SBC 4-5) explosive offense gave them the 8-1 win over the University of Texas at San Antonio Roadrunners (19-19, American 7-5) on Tuesday evening.The Bobcats scored eight runs on six hits, while starting pitcher Maddy Azua started in the circle and allowed just one run.Texas State got the early lead when Keely Williams hit a solo shot on the third pitch of the game.The ‘Cats were retired in order in the top of the second, and the roadrunners responded in the bottom. A leadoff single by junior outfielder Samantha Mundine was followed by two more singles that loaded the bases. Mundine went on to score on a groundout.With the game tied going into the third, the Bobcats added to the score. Williams walked and advanced to second on a sac bunt by senior outfielder Sydney Harvey. Senior infielder Aiyana Coleman then hit her ninth home run of the season to make the score 3-1.Texas State was able to add three more runs to the board by capitalizing on errors by the defense in the top of the fourth.Junior infielder Kate Bubela reached second on an error and was able to score on an infield single by senior infielder Sami Hood. Williams was walked again, and a double by senior Karmyn Bass brought in two runs.The Bobcats continued to score in the top of the fifth. A sacrifice fly by senior catcher Megan Kelnar scored Bubela, who was hit by a pitch. Williams then walked for her third time of the evening to load the bases and a throwing error by the Roadrunner’s second baseman.Senior pitcher Analisa Soliz came in as relief in the sixth inning and retired UTSA in order. Despite having runners in scoring position, the Roadrunners were unable to respond in the seventh, giving the Bobcats the 8-1 win.The Bobcats will face the University of South Alabama (23-15, SBC 7-2) to start their series at 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 2. The game will be available to stream on ESPN+.
