The Hays County Local Health Department reports 44 new lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 and zero recoveries Jan. 7, bringing the total number of cases in the county to 11,335, total active cases to 1,698 and recoveries to 9,500. The county reports the total active cases in the past 21 days is 2,336.
San Marcos, Kyle and Buda have 580, 478 and 368 active cases, respectively.
According to Epidemiologist Eric Schneider, the total number of received negative tests in the county is now 79,357. The total number of hospitalizations is 585 and total current hospitalizations is 39 after four people were hospitalized and three were discharged. The total number of fatalities in the county is 137.
