The Hays County Local Health Department reports four new COVID-19-related fatalities Jan. 28, two Buda men in their 70s, a San Marcos man in his 80s and a San Marcos man in his 60s. There have been a total of 185 fatalities in the county.
The county also reported 192 new lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 173 recoveries, bringing the total number of cases in the county to 14,911, total active cases to 2,358 and recoveries to 12,368. The county reports the total active cases in the past 21 days is 3,737.
San Marcos, Kyle and Buda have 660, 883 and 432 active cases, respectively.
According to Epidemiologist Eric Schneider, the total number of received negative tests in the county is now 102,760. The total number of hospitalizations is 649 and total current hospitalizations is 39 after 12 people were hospitalized and seven were discharged.
