Texas State announced the 2020-21 men’s basketball non-conference schedule Nov. 11.

The Bobcats will begin the season Nov. 25 and will play nine non-conference games, followed by two games at the Denver Multi-team Event.

Non-conference schedule:

• Nov. 25 – University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, San Marcos, Texas

• Nov. 28 – Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, Corpus Christi, Texas

• Nov. 30 – Mississippi State University, Starkville, Mississippi

• Dec. 5 – University of the Incarnate Word, San Marcos, Texas

• Dec. 9 -  University of Texas, Austin, Texas

• Dec. 12 – Our Lady of the Lake University, San Marcos, Texas

• Dec. 15 – Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, San Marcos, Texas

• Dec. 19-21 – Denver multi-team Event, Denver Colorado

• Dec. 19 – University of Denver

• Dec. 21 – Northern Arizona University

Texas State will begin the season at home with an exhibition game against UMHB on Nov. 25.

The Bobcats’ first away game will come Nov. 28 against TAMU-CC. The Islanders hold a 10-6 advantage all-time against Texas State. The Bobcats won the last matchup 61-55 in 2018.

On Nov. 30 the Bobcats will travel to Starkville, Mississippi to take on the Mississippi State Bulldogs for the first time.

Texas State will play Incarnate Word Dec. 5 at home. This will be the first matchup between the teams.

The biggest non-conference game will come Dec. 9 when the Bobcats take a trip down I-35 to face the UT Longhorns. Texas State has lost all 11 games against UT dating back to 2004. The teams last played each other in 2014 with UT winning 59-27.

The Bobcats will play Our Lady of the Lake Dec. 12 in their second-ever matchup. Texas State narrowly lost in overtime to the Saints 127-126 in 2010.

Texas State will play a second game against TAMU-CC Dec. 15, this time at home.

To close out non-conference play, the Bobcats will travel to the Mile High City to participate in the Denver Multi-team Event. Texas State will play Denver for the first time since 2013 where the Bobcats won 72-68. On Dec. 21, the Bobcats will take on Northern Arizona for the first time.

Texas State will begin Sun Belt Conference play Jan. 1 against the University of Louisiana-Lafayette.

The team ended its 2019-2020 campaign with a 21-11 overall record, 13-7 in conference. Terrence Johnson will take over the reigns as head coach after former coach Danny Kaspar resigned in September.
