The Texas State Bobcats (17-11, 9-6 Sun Belt) took on the ULM Warhawks (4-23, 1-13 Sun Belt) at Strahan Arena on Valentine’s Day. Going into a tough environment, ULM proved outmatched, bringing Texas State’s home record to 15-1 as the Bobcats won 95-84.
Leading the charge was the freshman phenom, DJ Hall, who scored a career high 27 points off of 11-17 Shooting with nine rebounds, five assists, two steals, and one block, the forward finished the game one rebound shy of a double-double.
Complimenting Hall’s play was senior Guard Mark Drone, who had a productive night dropping 16 points off 7-12 shooting, paired with 3 assists and two rebounds. Junior guard Kaden Gumbs dropped 10 points on an almost perfect 5-6 shooting alongside five assists to finish his night.
Next up in scoring was freshman center Robert Fields, scoring 12 points in 13 minutes off 5-7 shooting and five rebounds to end the game.
Two Former ULM players contributed to the Bobcats’ win, in senior center Makai Willis, who scored nine points on 4-7 shooting while grabbing three rebounds and senior guard Jalen Bolden scored eight points off 3-5 shooting.
The Bobcats will travel to Mobile, Ala.next to take on the University of South Alabama at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 19, at the Mitchell Center. The game will be available to stream on ESPN+.
