The Texas State Bobcats returned to Strahan Arena on Wednesday night after a four-game road trip to beat the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns 59-54 in a statement win after back-to-back tough losses.
Junior guard Kaden Gumbs and freshman forward DJ Hall helped lead the scoring for the Bobcats with a combined score of 34 points. Individually, Kaden Gumbs had a season high 18 points on 8-11 shooting as well as having two rebounds, two assists, and two steals.
On the other side, DJ Hall had a second straight double-double, dropping 16 points on 7-15 shooting, also snagging 14 rebounds along with two assists, one block and one steal.
With help from off the bench by sophomore guard Franck Emmou, dropping 12 points on 4-8 shooting, and freshman Robert Fields dropping seven points and grabbing five rebounds.
With this win at home, the Bobcats’ record improves to 10-9 overall and 3-4 in the Sun Belt, with the Ragin’ Cajuns’ record dropping to 4-15 overall and 2-5 in the Sun Belt.
The next game for the Bobcats will be a rematch against the Southern Miss Golden Eagles as they will travel to San Marcos on for a 3:30 tip, Saturday, Jan. 17, at Strahan Arena. The game will be available to stream on ESPN+
