The Texas State Bobcats’ (6-3) five-game winning streak came to an end Friday afternoon, falling 66-52 to the Seattle University Redhawks (5-1) at the Resorts World Classic.
Will Heimbrodt led all scorers in the game with 17 points, shooting an efficient 6-of-9 from the field while also putting up seven combined rebounds and assists. Heimbrodt was a key piece to guiding the Redhawks’ offense, which shot over 50% and made 17 trips to the free-throw line.
Despite offensive struggles, the Bobcats hung in the game and entered the half all knotted up with the Redhawks at 33 points. However, the second half was not as kind to the Bobcats.
The Bobcats mustered only 19 points after the break, marking their lowest scoring half since the season opener. Texas State shot just 2-of-11 from three-point range and committed 14 turnovers, preventing them from finding any consistent rhythm offensively.
The Redhawks took advantage, scoring 13 points off Bobcat turnovers and ultimately winning the game by double digits.
Texas State will not have to wait long to get back into action as the tournament will continue, and they will play the Lehigh Mountain Hawks on Nov. 29 at 1 p.m. at the Resorts World Classic.
It will be available to stream on ESPN+ and FloCollege.
