After 15 seasons at the helm of the Bobcats, Texas State women’s basketball head coach Zenarae Antoine announced Monday that she is stepping down from her position.
Antoine leaves as the program’s all-time winningest coach, finishing her Texas State career with a 225-232 overall record. She was named the 2023 Sun Belt Conference Coach of the Year after her first and only Sun Belt regular season championship.
During her tenure, Antoine had six winning seasons but has not had a winning record since the 2022-23 season.
The Bobcats finished the 2025-26 season with an 11-19 record and were eliminated early in the Sun Belt Conference tournament.
“Texas State Athletics thanks Zenarae Antoine for leading our women’s basketball program and for her immeasurable contributions to the university over the past 15 seasons,” Director of Athletics Don Coryell stated in a press release. “Coach Antoine played a pivotal role in elevating the program and guiding the Bobcats to new levels of success during her tenure. We are deeply appreciative of her dedication to the university, TXST Athletics, and the many student-athletes she mentored during her time at the helm. We wish Zenarae, Ronald and their family all the best moving forward.
With Texas State set to join the Pac-12 next season, Coryell emphasized Texas State’s commitment to getting the program ready to compete.
“Our focus remains on positioning our programs to compete at the highest level within the conference and nationally,” Coryell said. “We are committed to investing the resources necessary to achieve our goals.”
Texas State will work with sports executive search firm TurnkeyZRG to conduct a national search for Antoine’s replacement.
