A man was taken into custody without incident after police and a SWAT team responded to an incident at Hillside Ranch on North LBJ Drive.
At around 12:45 p.m. on Feb. 1, officers located 23-year-old Esequiel Iniguez, inside a “girlfriend’s” apartment, according to Russell Wilde, public safety communications specialist for the city of San Marcos.
It was later confirmed that police were responding to reports of a potentially suicidal person in an apartment at Hillside Ranch.
“[Iniguez] was believed to be armed with a knife and refused to come out,” Wilde wrote in an email to The Star. “Two female residents were safely able to exit the apartment during the incident.”
Wilde wrote that the SWAT team was activated because of safety concerns. Iniguez was taken into custody without incident.
Iniguez was charged with Criminal Trespass of a Habitation, two counts of violating a protective order/condition of bond and interfering with public duties.
