Three former Texas State basketball players have been off to an effective early start with their new teams. Coleton Benson, Austin Green and Joshua O’Garro are all averaging double figures just a few games into the new season. However, one former Bobcat in particular is shining a bit brighter with his new team.
The former sharpshooter, Benson, is averaging 16.9 points per game, shooting 40% from the field goal. Benson transferred to the University of New Orleans back in April after announcing he was hitting the transfer portal via X. His best game so far this season and probably his career came against Tulane, where he dropped 33 points, a career high, going 8-12 from beyond the arc.
Benson averaged 10.5 points just this last season with the Bobcats, where his season high was 23 points against USM.

O’Garro, considerably known for his defensive impact and offensive efficiency with the Bobcats, took his talents to Cal State Northridge. He’s averaging 13 points and 10 rebounds with the Matadors so far this season. The guard has recorded three double-doubles just seven games into the season. His most recent and familiar game so far was against Troy, a Sun Belt opponent of the Bobcats. He dropped 23 points, 11 rebounds, with two steals and a block to add.
O’Garro started in 25 contests with the Bobcats last year and averaged 9.6 points with the team. His best game with the Bobcats, he scored 21 points and 13 rebounds with a couple of blocks and steals.
Lastly, Green makes his way as the final former Bobcat, averaging 14 points and 6.3 rebounds with UMass Lowell. His best game so far this season came on opening night, producing a double-double. The forward finished with 21 points and 13 rebounds, defeating the Rivier Raiders to kick off his senior year with the River Hawks.
Green only started in one game with Texas State, but did play in 29 games coming off the bench. He averaged 3.7 points and 2.8 rebounds with the Bobcats, where his best finish arguably was against Georgia State. He scored 10 points and recorded 13 rebounds while seeing a season high of 36 minutes.

Although it is still very early in the season, the three former Bobcats are off to very productive starts with their new schools.
