Best Bar: Zelick’s Icehouse

Note: Repeated attempts to reach this business for comment were unsuccessful.

When customers leave Zelicks Icehouse’s indoor garage structure full of framed photos commemorating the life of their grandfather, Jack Zelick Katz, owners Chase and Seth Katz hope it is with smiles and satisfaction with the service provided.

The brothers opened and designed Zelicks, named after their late grandfather who provided them a loan to open their first business, to serve as a hangout spot for anyone walking through the Square seeking quality service.

Its televisions, bar top seating and pool table area make it an attractive destination for many. The site also features patio-like outdoor seating and a few Texas-inspired games like horseshoes and washers.

Zelicks offers a large selection of liquors with an emphasis on Texas favorites. It prides itself on handcrafted cocktails and continues to grow its Cocktails of the Month special.

Zelicks has connections with local breweries, giving it access to specialty kegs found at no other bar in San Marcos. The bar also carries a large selection of domestic and local craft brews, providing diverse choices of beer for customers to choose from.

For those hoping to satiate their hunger, Zelicks offers a variety of snacks, including its popular roasted tomatillo queso made with roasted tomatillo salsa, pulled pork quesadillas or other delicious tex-mex favorites.

For more information, visit Zelicks at 336 W Hopkins St., or its website at www.zelickssmtx.com.
