In a season that has been marked with high high’s and low low’s, Texas State’s season will continue as they earned an at-large bid to the 2026 NCAA Tournament early Monday morning, remaining in-state to play in the College Station Regional, hosted by No. 12 Texas A&M in Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park this weekend from Friday, May 29 to Sunday, June 1.
The College Station Regional features the hosting Aggies (39-14) opening against the Southland Conference champion Lamar Cardinals (34-25) as the regional’s fourth seed, with the two-seeded USC Trojans (43-15) matching up against the third-seeded Bobcats (36-24) in the later Friday night game.
The Bobcats were one of the last four in to make the Tournament alongside Liberty, Kentucky and fellow Sun Belt rival Troy. They were one of five teams to make Regionals out of the Sun Belt Conference, including Southern Miss, Coastal Carolina and Louisiana-Lafayette.
This will be Texas State’s seventh NCAA Tournament appearance and first appearance in four seasons, having last qualified in 2022 when they played in the Stanford Regional. It is also the sixth time they will have played in an in-state regional, their first since the 2011 Austin Regional.
This will be the Bobcats first ever match-up against the Trojans while having a much more extensive history between the Aggies and Cardinals. Texas State previously played two games against Texas A&M earlier this season, with each home team securing a win. They have not played the Cardinals since 2020 in a weekend series that saw the Bobcats prevail.
The College Station Regional is matched against the Chapel Hill Regional, hosted by No. 5 North Carolina. The winner out of College Station will play one of UNC, VCU, Tennessee or East Carolina.
Texas State will open their NCAA Tournament run against USC at 8 p.m. Friday, May 29 in Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park following Texas A&M’s opening game against the Cardinals at 3 p.m. It will be streamed on ESPN+.
