Texas State students’ usual go-to foods for studying, post-river floating or late night cravings need to be affordable and Torchy’s Tacos is a San Marcos favorite.
Torchy’s Tacos is a well-known company in Texas. Starting with just a man in Austin selling his own queso and tacos from food trailers, Torchy’s has blossomed into a Texas favorite.
Bobcats showed their appreciation for the local taco joint in a recent survey, voting the store as the ‘best place to get tacos’ in San Marcos.
There are some students who visit the store weekly and have developed favorites from the taco joint.
“Along with the tacos, mainly the Trailer Park Trashy (taco), I also think the queso is the best,” said Seleste Ambriz, psychology freshman. “It is original and you can’t find another one like it around here.”
Torchy’s Tacos is both affordable and satisfying for students and local residents. Torchy’s is open every day of the week and is located at 301 N. Guadalupe St.
