Andrew Bencivengo
Editor-in-Chief
Andrew Bencivengo is the Editor-in-Chief at The University Star and has been with the organization since spring 2025. As Editor-in-Chief, Andrew oversees the editorial process, while also working behind the scenes to reach organizational goals. Before becoming the Editor-in-Chief, Andrew previously worked as the Opinion editor, where his columns were recognized both regionally and nationally. Andrew is currently a junior majoring in business management. When not working in the newsroom, Andrew can be found reading, hanging out with his girlfriend Miriam, or working at his other jobs.
Meg Boles
Managing Editor
Meg Boles is the managing editor at The University Star and has been with the organization since the fall of 2023. As the managing editor, Meg oversees the newsroom, edits content and promotes the organization. Prior to becoming managing editor, Meg worked as a multimedia reporter and assistant multimedia editor and served as multimedia editor during the 2025-2026 school year. Meg began studying Public Relations at Texas State in 2023 and is currently a senior. When not in the newsroom Meg enjoys photography and reading.
Arabella DiChristina
News Editor
Arabella DiChristina is the news editor at The University Star and has been with the organization since fall 2024. As the news editor, she leads a group of reporters to produce solid, timely and important coverage for the Texas State and San Marcos communities. Arabella is a sophomore at Texas State and is majoring in Journalism with a pre-law focus as well as a criminal justice minor. When not in the newsroom, Arabella can be found crocheting, traveling, or lost in a good book.
Cady Clements
Life & Arts Editor
Cady Clements is the life and arts editor at The University Star and has been with the organization since spring 2025. As the life and arts editor, Cady manages a team of reporters and edits all life and arts content. Prior to becoming the editor, she was a life and arts reporter and later, the assistant life and arts editor. Cady is currently a junior majoring in business HR management with minors in business law and journalism. When Cady is not in the newsroom, she can be found at a local concert or taking photos.
Ayden Oredson
Sports Editor
Ayden is the Sports Editor at The University Star and has been with the organization since Fall 2024. As Sports Editor, Ayden manages the sports section by assigning and editing stories about Texas State sports and athletes and ensuring game coverage and other sports related news is covered promptly and accurately. Prior to becoming the editor, Ayden worked as an Assistant Sports Editor, Sports Reporter and Sports Contributor. He is also a member of the Multimedia section. Ayden is a 2x Sports Reporter of the Year award winner, taking the award home consecutively in 2025 & 2026. He is a junior who is majoring in Journalism with a minor in Media Studies. When not in the newsroom, Ayden is often watching sports, playing video games and watching film.
Regina Orozco Lopez Forment
Opinion Editor
Regina Orozco Lopez Forment is the opinion editor at The University Star and has been with the section since the fall of 2025. As the opinions editor, Regina manages the opinion staff, edits all content and collaborates with writers and editors to get columns published. Prior to becoming the editor, Regina was a contributor for opinions and she later became the assistant opinions editor. Regina is currently a senior majoring in English with a double minor in Journalism and Mass Communication. When not in the newsroom, Regina enjoys reading, going on walks and hanging out with friends or her cat Harvey.
James Phillips
Broadcast Editor
James Phillips is an International Relations senior and award-winning multimedia journalist currently serving as the Director of Star News Network. After starting as an opinion columnist in fall 2022, he went on to write and work for nearly every section of The University Star prior to his promotion to news director. Beyond his obsessive following of all things politics, he enjoys playing obscure video games and reading history, with his favorite book being Nixonland by Rick Perlstein.
Jen Nguyen
Design Editor
Jen Nguyen is the design editor of The University Star and was previously the creative services director. She leads a group of designers to produce interesting, refined graphics for the Texas State and San Marcos audience. Jen is currently a senior in geography with a minor in art history. When she’s not leading or designing, she is probably crocheting or listening to music in her room.
Sophia Gerke
Creative Services Director
Sophia Gerke is the creative services director for The University Star and has been with the organization since spring 2024. As the creative services director, Sophia designs house ads, helps with general design inquiries and designs the games page. Sophia is a junior at Texas State and is majoring in Communication Design. She wishes to use her creative skills to become an illustrator for children’s books and to inspire children to embrace their creative sides. When not in the newsroom, Sophia can be found making stickers and playing her guitar.
Tatum Pou
Engagement Editor
Tatum Pou is the engagement editor at The University Star and has been with the organization since the spring 2024. As engagement editor, Tatum helps oversee the engagement specialists and engage multiple audiences through various platforms of The University Star. Prior to becoming editor, Tatum was an engagement specialist. Tatum is currently a senior studying Advertising and minoring in Sociology. When not in the newsroom, you will find her reading, gaming or spending quality time with her friends and cat Miso.
Keely Florez
Public and Internal Relations Director
Keely Florez is the public and internal relations director at The University Star and has been with the organization since spring 2025. Before stepping into her current role, she served as a PR specialist. As PIR director, Keely leads a team of specialists in planning and executing a wide range of events for The Star, including public relations campaigns, internal socials, and community engagement initiatives. Keely is currently a sophomore majoring in public relations with a minor in family and behavioral studies. In her free time, she enjoys listening to music, playing video games, and exploring her creative side through photography, scrapbooking, and other artsy hobbies.
Aiden Fritsche
Multimedia Editor
Aiden Fritsche is the multimedia editor at The University Star and has been with the organization since the fall of 2025. As the multimedia editor, Aiden helps lead the multimedia section. Prior to the role, Aiden worked as a multimedia reporter, photographing a variety of sports and news assignments as well as winning Multimedia Reporter of the Year. Aiden has been doing photography since his sophomore year of high school, and it has taken him all over the country. Aiden is currently a sophomore studying journalism with a minor in sports media. When he’s not taking pictures, you can find him practicing guitar or playing volleyball.
Andrea Martinez
Assistant Broadcast Editor
Andrea Martinez is the Assistant Broadcast Editor of The University Star and has been with the organization since Fall 2025. As the Assistant Broadcast Editor, Andrea assists with managing reporters and news coverage, writing scripts, filming interviews, creating packages, and editing the bi-weekly newscast. Before becoming assistant editor, she worked as a reporter for Star News Network, taking a beat in Life & Arts and student organization coverage. Andrea is currently a junior Journalism major, and when she’s not in the newsroom or studio, she enjoys junk-journaling, listening to music, and catching some sun at Sewell.
