Texas State cross country finished its 2019 season after a strong performance at the 2019 NCAA South Central Regional Championships meet on Friday in Fayetteville, Arkansas. All four Bobcats that qualified for the meet placed in the top 75 out of a total of 311 runners.
Junior Justin Botello crossed the finish in 38th with a time of 31:25.8 in the men’s 10k race and junior Cade Michael finished close behind with a 31:52.8 time in 54th place. On the women’s side, the 2019 Sun Belt Conference Freshman and Newcomer of the Year Riley McGrath ran a 22:39.5 time to place in 56th in the 6k. Junior Sydney Cole made her second NCAA South Central Regional Championships appearance in her two years as a Bobcat, placing 65th after clocking a 22:51.7 time.
The season ended for many Bobcat runners, but fans can see athletes such as Cole and Michael in distance races as indoor track begins on January 5.
