A sexual assault was reported at The Retreat located on Old Ranch Road 12 around 4 p.m. Thursday evening. The suspect is described as a black male wearing black clothing, a black ski mask and carrying a handgun. No suspect has been taken into custody following the assault and the investigation will continue into the night.

While investigating the reported sexual assault at The Retreat, a separate rape incident occurred Thursday evening at the Edge Apartments which is located across the street on Ranch Road 12. An arrest warrant has been signed for the suspect, Keith Vallen Louis III, age 28, in relation to the sexual assault. Louis is a black male, 5’10”, 160 lbs with black hair and brown eyes.

SMPD cannot confirm if Louis has any involvement in other recent sexual assault cases in San Marcos and is still actively searching for the suspect involved in The Retreat assault.

San Marcos Police Department is holding a press conference where they will share details with the public at 10 a.m. Friday morning at the police department located on 2300 S. IH 35. Residents at The Retreat and surrounding San Marcos area are being asked by SMPD to lock all windows and doors and report any suspicious activity. An increased police presence in the area of Ranch Road 12 and Craddock Avenue is expected to continue into the night.
