To Whom It May Concern:
My name is Andrew Pyle and I’m an LGBT rights activist in Hays County, Texas. I have been a member of the United Methodist Church since August 2018 and I have been proud to be a Christian my whole life. This past week, I was very disappointed to hear about the outcome of the United Methodist Conference that took place in Missouri over the weekend. In the conference, The One Church Plan, a plan which would have helped improve the lives of LGBT Christians in the United Methodist Church, was cowardly rejected. This move is unacceptable for the Church and for the livelihoods of many LGBT Christians. This action goes against the church philosophy of Open Hearts, Open Minds and Open Doors. The so-called “Traditional Plan” has undermined our values and beliefs as a church. Since the outcome of the conference was very shocking to many of us Christians, I have decided to start the Open Hearts Movement. The Open Hearts Movement aims to fight against prejudice and discrimination of LGBT Christians within the United Methodist Church as well as other Christian denominations across the nation. We as both a society and as Christians must be welcoming and accepting to all of God’s children. God loves all of God’s Children and makes no exception. My goal with the Open Hearts Movement is to make sure the lives of LGBT Christians is a better one. Not just for our nation but, the entire world.
Sincerely,
Andrew Pyle – [email protected]
