In a must-win game for the Bobcats to become regular season Sun Belt Conference champions, Texas State unable to make a comeback in the second half as they lost 81-73 on the road to the University of Texas at Arlington Mavericks.
The loss closes out Texas State’s regular season with an overall record of 23-8.
The Mavericks were able to take over this game as they went on a key 12-2 run to start the second half pushing their lead to 16.
The Bobcats struggled to keep a rhythm on the offensive end shooting 43 percent from the field and just 4-22 from behind the arc.
Guards Mason Harrell and Nijal Pearson led the team in scoring on the day with 13 points apiece.
Defensively, the Bobcats had a hard time containing UTA guard, Brian Warren, who scored 24 points including four 3-pointers.
The Bobcats will look to turn things around next week as they will compete in the Sun Belt Conference tournament in New Orleans, LA.
