San Marcos Police Department is investigating a murder-suicide that occurred on the 1200 block of Hilltop Dr. on Feb. 17 at 11:23 a.m.

The victim, 24-year-old Brihana Landrum was shot in the head by her ex-boyfriend, 28-year-old Adrian Diaz. According to witnesses, Landrum and Diaz had been in an on and off relationship for several years.

Landrum’s family attempted to take her to the hospital but she died from fatal wounds before making it to the hospital.

Diaz fled the scene and was found a short time later in Guadalupe County dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

SMPD and the Guadalupe Sheriff’s Department are working together on this incident, with SMPD investigating the murder and Guadalupe’s Sheriff investigating the suicide.

This marks the second homicide in San Marcos in 2019.
