Former Texas State President Lee. H Smith died early Sept. 19, according to an email President Denise Trauth.

Smith served as president from 1974-81. He oversaw the university’s move to NCAA athletics, the acquisition of 78 acres of property, enlarging the San Marcos campus, and enrollment growth, which reached 15,400 by 1981.
