Decoud finishes eighth in day one of NCAA Indoor Championships

Senior Chelsie Decoud, senior high jumper, was the lone representative for the Texas State track & field teams at the NCAA Division I Indoor Championships in College Station, Texas, Friday and Saturday, March 9-10.
Decoud competed in the women’s high jump Friday at 6 p.m. She was one of 16 competitors in the event and was the fifth leaper.
The athlete’s best clearance this season came at the Sun Belt Indoor Championships when she won her fourth consecutive gold medal. Decoud got over the bar at 1.88-meters to set a new school, meet and Sun Belt Conference record. The record is tied for the third best clearance this year.
Decoud finished her indoor career on the biggest podium, finishing in eighth place among 16 other participants at the NCAA Indoor Championships.
The meet will continue Saturday and event schedules are to be announced the day of. The outdoor season starts for Texas State at the Roadrunner Invitational in San Antonio March 23-24.
