The Texas State men’s basketball team dropped 73-63 to Louisiana after a late comeback Feb. 15 at the Cajundome.

The Bobcats are now 14-13 on the season and 7-7 in Sun Belt Conference play. On the other hand, Louisiana has improved to 22-4 overall and 12-1 in conference.

“We probably played Louisiana at home better than anyone has this year,” Head coach Danny Kaspar said. “If we had played the first half like we did the second half, I think it would have been another one of those games that went down to the wire. Our guys gave great effort tonight and battled. Next up is ULM and we hope to get at least one of the road this trip.”

The Bobcats trailed by as many as 16 during the first half but managed to rally back right before halftime.

With Immanuel King, senior forward, netting the final six points of the half for Texas State, the
Bobcats went into the locker room down 34-24.

With 4:21 remaining in the game, Shelby Adams, freshman guard, completed his shot from long distance to cut the UL lead 60-55.

UL responded with six consecutive points. From that, the Bobcats were able to get in eight-point reach of the Ragin’ Cajuns twice before the clock ran out.

A final shot from UL left the score 73-63 in UL’s favor.

Overall, the Bobcats shot 40.4 percent from the field and 33.3 percent from long distance. Texas State grabbed 33 rebounds and one steal.

Nijal Pearson, sophomore guard, took the team-high award in scoring with 15 points and was perfect from the charity stripe, 3-for-3. Pearson also recorded four boards and tossed out two assists.

King followed with 14 points for the Bobcats and finished 4-of-7 with free throws. King blocked three shots and grabbed a team-high of six rebounds. The senior has now moved to sixth place in program history with 60 career blocks.
