Hays County reports 2 new COVID-19 fatalities, 179 new COVID-19 cases

The Hays County Local Health Department reports two new COVID-19-related fatalities between Dec. 7-13, an Austin boy under 10 years old and a San Marcos woman in her 90s. There have been a total of 410 fatalities in the county.

The county also reported 179 new lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 67 recoveries, bringing the total number of cases in the county to 30,731, total active cases to 375 and recoveries to 29,946. The county reports the total active cases in the past 21 days is 450.

San Marcos, Kyle and Buda have 95, 155 and 70 active cases, respectively.

According to Epidemiologist Eric Schneider, the total number of received negative tests in the county is now 293,066. The total number of hospitalizations is 1,387 and total current hospitalizations is 15 after 10 people were hospitalized and five people was discharged.
The county reports 11 unvaccinated people and four fully vaccinated people are hospitalized. Six unvaccinated and two fully vaccinated patients are in the ICU.
