Hays County reports three new COVID-19 fatalities, 44 new cases

The Hays County Local Health Department reports three new COVID-19-related fatalities Feb.25, a Buda man in his 70s, a Kyle woman in her 30s, and a San Marcos man in his 50s. There have been a total of 212 fatalities in the county.

The county also reported 44 new lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 82 recoveries, bringing the total number of cases in the county to 16,226, total active cases to 498 and recoveries to 15,516. The county reports the total active cases in the past 21 days is 1,196.

San Marcos, Kyle and Buda have 119, 175 and 98 active cases, respectively.

According to Epidemiologist Eric Schneider, the total number of received negative tests in the county is now 121,247. The total number of hospitalizations is 738 and total current hospitalizations is 28 after five people were hospitalized and three were discharged.
