Hays County reports two new fatalities, 34 new cases

The Hays County Local Health Department reports two new COVID-19-related fatalities on March 5, a San Marcos man in his 70s and a San Marcos woman in her 60s. 
There have been a total of 227 fatalities in the county.

The county also reports 34 new lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 and zero recoveries, bringing the total number of cases in the county to 16,490, total active cases to 646 and recoveries to 15,617. The county reports the total active cases in the past 21 days is 702.

San Marcos, Kyle and Buda have 173, 195 and 142 active cases, respectively.

According to Epidemiologist Eric Schneider, the total number of received negative tests in the county is now 127,567. The total number of hospitalizations is 755 and total current hospitalizations is 14 after one person was hospitalized and three were discharged.
